Schedule Changes at the Bowdoin College Museum of Art

 

Due to necessary building improvements, the following exhibition schedule changes have been implemented at the Bowdoin College Museum of Art. Currently the upper galleries (except the Assyrian Gallery) are closed until the skylight upgrade project reaches completion in early August.

The following exhibitions will be open:

Through June 17, 2012:

  • Carrie Mae Weems: The Maddening Crowd

Through June 24, 2012:

  • Marvin Bileck and Emily Nelligan: On Great Cranberry Island
  • Building a College Collection: Select Recent Acquisitions
  • Telephones
  • The Assyrian Gallery

Through July 1, 2012:

  • Lesley Vance

The entire Museum, including the Museum Shop, will be closed July 2–July 12, 2012.

On Friday, July 13, the major exhibition William Wegman: Hello Nature and its companion exhibition, A River Lost & Found: The Androscoggin River in Time and Place will open at 10 a.m.

Opening events will take place Saturday, July 14, when William Wegman delivers a keynote talk at 5 p.m. in Kresge Auditorium, Visual Arts Center, followed by a reception at the Museum from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The events are free and open to the public.

Plans call for a staggered opening schedule beginning in early August for various exhibitions featuring the Bowdoin College Museum of Art’s permanent collection.
