Flexing foot (Illustration credit: Abby McBride)New Scientist reports a study suggesting that a surprising eight percent of humans have mid-foot flexibility, a trait better known in tree-climbing primates. What’s not clear is if the trait reappeared recently, or has stayed in the human genome since our arboreal days. The next step: testing whether flexible feet make it harder to walk.
