The Bowdoin College Museum of Art’s upcoming exhibition, Per Kirkeby: Paintings and Sculpture, is highlighted in a Portland Press Herald piece that includes insight from Joachim Homann, the Museum’s curator. “The viewer experiences Kirkeby’s paintings as outbursts of exuberant color contained by richly layered textures of pigment,” says Homann in the article. “The painterly explorations are often based in the observation of the visible world and contain references to landscapes or recognizable shapes emblematic of biographical narratives and symbolic in nature,” Homann said.
