First Increase in Global Music Sales Since ‘Post-Napster Collapse’ of Industry (The Atlantic)

For the first time this century, the recording industry reported growth in global music sales, experiencing a 0.3 percent rise in 2012. This will prove to be very beneficial for musicians, as a study released last month indicates between 12 and 22 percent of artists’ income relies on their fans actually paying for their records.
