Social Mobility Not Just About the One Percent (Economist)


Research in Sweden shows, contrary to popular belief, mobility can occur across socioeconomic groups – not just among the highly elite. By tracing the social mobility of surnames that were elite in 1700, economists found that those same elite groups were only modestly more advantaged than the rest of the population by the year 2000, The Economist writes.
