Men’s Basketball: The Tufts men’s basketball team out-scored Bowdoin College 21-4 over the final eight minutes to earn an 82-71 victory over the Polar Bears in the quarterfinal round of the NESCAC Championship on Saturday at Cousens Gym. The Jumbos (17-8) advance to the conference semi-finals for the first time since 2006. They will play #1 seed and host Amherst next Saturday (Feb. 23). Bowdoin, which ralled from a six-point halftime deficit to twice lead by six in the second half, finishes its season at 14-10.
Women’s Basketball: The eighth-seeded Bowdoin College women’s basketball team upset the top-seeded Tufts University Jumbos, 60-54, in the NESCAC Championship Quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon at Cousens Gym. It is the first time in NESCAC Women’s Basketball history that an eight seed has defeated a top seed and the win extends Bowdoin’s streak of NESCAC Semifinal appearances.
Men’s Ice Hockey: The Bowdoin men’s ice hockey team clinched the number one seed for the NESCAC Tournament with today’s 2-1 overtime victory over Connecticut College.
Nordic Skiing: The Bowdoin nordic ski team finished ninth of 13 teams at the Middlebury Carnival on Saturday. Results are available here.
Women’s Ice Hockey: Bowdoin senior Kayla Lessard posted her fifth shutout of the season as the women’s ice hockey team won a battle of nationally-ranked teams, 4-0 over Amherst on Saturday evening. The seventh-ranked Polar Bears improve to 17-4-2 (11-3-1 NESCAC) and gain sole possession of second place in the NESCAC standings after breaking away from tenth-ranked Amherst (12-9-1, 10-4-1 NESCAC).
Women’s Squash: Senior Bonnie Cao won a thrilling five-setter at #7 to lift the Bowdoin College women’s squash team to a 5-4 win over Hamilton in the semifinals of the Walker Cup on Saturday at Yale. With the win, the Polar Bears advance to play for the “C” Division National Championship on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. against Wesleyan University.
Women’s Swimming & Diving: Amherst mounted a charge to overtake Williams following Day Two of the NESCAC Women’s Swimming and Diving Championship Saturday at Greason Pool on the campus of Bowdoin College.
Men’s Indoor Track & Field: Led by a New England Championships from Coby Horowitz and the Distance Medley Relay team, Bowdoin finished 8th at the New England Division III Championship Saturday at Bates. Complete results are here.
