Video: Maine’s Newest Senator, Brunswick, and Chamberlain Featured on ‘NBC Nightly News’ (MSNBC)

Angus S. King of Brunswick was sworn in yesterday as the new junior U.S. Senator from Maine. King, who served as Distinguished Lecturer at Bowdoin from 2004-12 and as a contributor to the Bowdoin Daily Sun, is a former two-term governor of Maine with something that sets him apart from all but one of his new colleagues in the United States Senate: he’s an independent. That fact caught the attention of NBC’s Tom Brokaw, who visited King in Brunswick last month. Brokaw’s report—which includes a shout out to Bowdoin grad and former president Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain (Class of 1852)—was aired last night on NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams.
