The Bowdoin College Republicans honored veterans yesterday with a short ceremony in Smith Union. Sam Sabasteanski ’13 and Tyler Silver ’13 read the speech given by John F. Kennedy in 1961 at Arlington National Cemetery, and then asked for a moment of silence. After they finished, the students studying in the Union clapped.
“In a world tormented by tension and the possibilities of conflict, we meet in a quiet commemoration of an historic day of peace. In an age that threatens the survival of freedom, we join together to honor those who made our freedom possible.” — JFK, 1961
