After Sandy: Draining NYC’s Subway Tunnels (The Atlantic)

In the wake of massive flooding after Hurricane Sandy, New York City’s subway system is slowly getting back on its feet. Train tunnels that were “flooded from wall to wall and floor to ceiling” are being pumped out with what amounts to “a really big, really complicated shop vac.”
