The American flag is perhaps one of the nation’s oldest infographics — 13 stripes representing the original colonies, and, of course, a star for each of our 50 United States.

The design studio MGMT has imagined new national banners, each one revealing data points (from the active and inactive U.S. nuclear weapons testing sites, to the number of Americans who’ve appeared on TV) about the country over which it would wave.
