First Texts and Pics, Now Smells (Grist)

noseA Japanese company has created a device for iPhones that allows users to send odors to receivers that are also fixed up with the gadget. Called Chat Perf, the device has an atomizer and tiny smell tank that captures the scent, which the receiving end can supposedly recreate, Grist explains.

What could be the possible uses of such an invention? Sending “scents of a foreign place — alongside a snapshot of it — [would] give the recipient a fuller sensory experience,” DesignTAXI muses. Those hankering for some home-cooked meals made by dad or mom might also find it helps ease homesickness?
