A documentary film by William Kunitz about a Maine farming family that premiered at the Camden International Film Festival last month will be shown at Bowdoin Oct 17, at 7 p.m. in Kresge Auditorium. Kunitz, who lives in the same town as the farmers he chronicles, is Bowdoin’s manager of data systems in the IT department.
Goranson Farm: An Uncertain Harvest follows a family in Dresden, Maine, for one year as they struggle with the challenges and uncertainty of making a living by vegetable farming. “My vision is to show this farm family as they progress through a year: how they live and work together, how they handle the vagaries of weather and blight, how they interact with their community, and how their community supports them,” Kunitz writes on his website.
The filmmaker and the farmers will be at the screening and there will be a Q&A following the 54-minute film. The event is co-sponsored with Bowdoin Film Studies.
