On Tuesday, October 16, at 7:12 p.m., campus rumbled from an earthquake four miles below the earth, registering 4.0 in magnitude and centered three miles west of Hollis, a little town in southern Maine. Bowdoin Stores Begin Selling Caps to Help Wounded Soldiers

The Bowdoin Stores are now selling two styles of baseball caps to support the recovery of wounded soldiers.

Both hats are embroidered with the Bowdoin logo, but part of their proceeds goes to Operation Hat Trick. OHT is a program developed by the University of New Hampshire’s athletic department to raise funds for injured veterans, as well as to provide hats for them to cover their head injuries.

Operation Hat Trick is dedicated to the memory of Nate Hardy, a Navy Seal who died in Iraq in 2008, and to the Seal who died with him, Mike Koch. Hardy was the son of Steve Hardy ’70, who along with his twin brother, Erl, were Bowdoin hockey standouts and co-captains of the ’70 hockey team.

At last count, 127 colleges and universities had signed on to sell Operation Hat Trick hats, including Bowdoin. Fox News broadcast a story about OHT last May.
