This summer, artist Tariq Haq started working on his mosaic, Elements, in the cafeteria of the Harriet Beecher Stowe school. He got one-third of the way through before having to pause and travel to India to start a yearlong position as an art and English teacher at a school near New Delhi. Haq does plan to return and complete the other two walls, and will decorate one with a volcano to symbolize fire and the other with a wave to represent the element of water.
