The days are getting shorter, but they’re also getting more colorful as the leaves are beginning to change across the state. The leaf peepers at the the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry expect a “better than average” foliage season. Consult the foliage map and calendar at MainefFoliage.com, where you can also subscribe to leafy updates by email, before heading out on your Sunday drive.

I am very interested in the foliage reports, so thanks. As a landscape painter I make trips to Maine to paint at different times of the year.
Thanks for this!
Only a few weeks ago, I was in Brunswick enjoying the sun and warmth of an endless summer. Sitting in my library and looking through to a Copper Beech, I have been appreciating a slow change of leaf color against the seemingly unchanged maples. The receipt of BDS’s magnificent splurge of color, jolts me into the reality that FALL is five days away; and, everything is about to wear nature’s brightest reminder of life in New England.
