Before they depart on orientation trips with first-year students in tow, trip leaders have to learn an important skill — how to sing the Bowdoin song, “Raise Songs to Bowdoin.”
Monday night at the Schwartz Outdoor Leadership Center, trip leaders were directed through a quick rehearsal by Senior Music Lecturer Tony Antolini ’63. Antolini trains trip leaders every year to sing the alma mater and a few other rousing Bowdoin tunes.
“You need to sing this a lot so first years can sing it when they get back here and meet with Barry Mills Saturday night. Your job is to teach this song to them,” Antolini advised. “And it doesn’t have to be beautiful. What it has to be is loud.”
Orientation trips for first years leave today to destinations across Maine.
