Slideshow: First-year Students Take Off

After spending their first night in Farley Field House, most first-year students departed early Wednesday morning for destinations across the state. They were embarking on many different four-day outdoor expeditions, ranging from backpacking on the Appalachian Trail to sea kayaking along Maine’s coast. Meanwhile, community service groups this week are working on local farms, soup kitchens or local nonprofits. BSE students, short for the Bowdoin Science Experience, stayed on campus to continue their introduction to Bowdoin’s science community.

This is the first year Bowdoin has asked all incoming students to participate on an orientation trip or BSE.

    Hey, looks like fun.

We got some towels and sheets and a welcome letter from the Dean and President plus directions to the Student Union book store.
