Drive-by moose sighting

Photo: Holly Sherburne

On a sunny afternoon drive, between the Moosehead Lake Region towns of Kokadjo and Greenville, Holly Sherburne, Bowdoin’s Associate Director for Online Communications, happened upon a sight not uncommon in those parts — a moose. According to mooseheadlake.org, moose outnumber people 3 to 1 in that region.

It appears that Piscataquis County is safer than Sagadahoc, if Saturday’s headlines are any indication! (Cf. Brunswick police Lt. Ducette’s cruiser and moose both total losses in altercation on Rt. 295.)
Incidentally, state police dispatched a local moose we had spotted in our yard in West Boylston, Mass., when found within the I-190 right-of-way. Regrettable but necessary due to their lack of federal-spec. bumpers.
The inventor of a practical solution will be well rewarded, surely.
