In his Reunion Convocation address June 2, 2012, President Barry Mills thanked alumni, parents and friends of the College for their generous and vital support, and reiterated that Bowdoin’s future depends on the ongoing commitment to providing financial aid and maintaining access for those who have earned the privilege of studying at the College. Amid celebrating his own 40th Reunion — and while entering his 12th year in the president’s office — Mills reflected on what it means to lead the College as an alumnus. Lindsey Horowitz '12 In under a year, Lindsey Horowitz ’12 went from busy intern at a small arts nonprofit to steadfast board member who helped lead the organization after it lost its director and several board members. In the spring of 2011, Horowitz received a $4,000 stipend from Community Matters in Maine, a McKeen Center summer fellowship program, to work for Five Rivers Arts Alliance for 10 weeks. Five Rivers Arts is a Brunswick-based nonprofit that organizes Friday night ArtWalk in Brunswick and Bath, as well as other arts-based community events.
