As the Scripps National Spelling Bee wraps up today, we’re reminded of the importance of spelling. In this auto-correcting, spell-checking world — and one in which messages such as “u r going? gr8!” are routinely used even among those long past their tweens — there is concern that America’s spelling skills may be in decline.
