Slideshow: Studzinski Recital Hall and Kanbar Auditorium Receive AIA Honor Award

The American Institute of Architects has given Studzinski Recital Hall and Kanbar Auditorium its 2012 Educational Facility Design Award of Excellence, recognizing it as an exemplary project exhibiting innovation in the design of learning environments. The national award includes educational buildings, K-12 to the college and university level, across the country.

Studzinski Recital Hall and Kanbar Auditorium opened in May 2007 following an 18-month renovation and preservation project that transformed the Curtis Pool into a state-of-the-art music performance and practice facility.

The $15 million project was designed by William Rawn Associates of Boston and was made possible through the generosity of Trustee John Studzinski ’78 and Elliott Kanbar ’56. Since its opening, the building has received several design awards, including those from the Boston Society of Architects and the U.S. Institute of Theatre Technology.
