On Monday, a new Willis Avenue bridge made its way up the East River after a 112-mile journey from Albany to 124th Street. You guessed it! The dignified and almost sacred sport of sumo wrestling is facing great scrutiny in Japan. Formerly considered a venerable tradition, sumo wrestling has been struggling to maintain its credibility and societal significance.

An abundance of warm and sunny weather matured the seedlings in Bowdoin’s Organic Garden, leaving gardener Tristan Williams and student intern Seth Kelly ’11 with a bumper crop, including tiny tender salad greens with mustardy mizuna and arugula, basil, chives, and asparagus. Williams provides a running commentary on the happenings in the garden in a blog.
